These two oil paintings on canvas mark the entrance to the Chapel. Four small works on paper inside the Chapel continue the motif of the circle which refers both to its recurrence in philosophy and religion as well as reflecting the architectural form of the Chapel. The large paintings are made up of intensely coloured circles which draw the eye to focus on their subtle surface and texture built up with layers of translucent and opaque glazes. A non denominational space, the icon-like presence of these concentric circles marks the entrance to the contemplative interior of the Chapel itself.

Carol Robertson has exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad and her work is found in many public and private collections.

This commission is part of the Arts in Hospital project 'Bringing the Outside In' and was funded through an Arts Council England Lottery Award.
